A few years ago I had a brazilian blow dry and was so pleased with how straight and unfrizzy it made my hair, so when I saw the Free from Frizz 6 week blowout, I couldn't wait to try it. I have reaaaally frizzy hair, (and I mean really frizzy) so whenever I see a product that claims to ban frizz, I am the first to try it. The treatment that I used was the Mango one, for thick/coarse hair, at first I wasn't 100% sure what to expect from this and what exactly it did. After applying the treatment and straightening my hair - my hair felt amazing! It was so soft and shiny and not frizzy whatsoever, just like when I had my brazilian blowdry. It took around 2-3 hours to complete the treatment, but it depends on how much your hair needs straightening.
You're not allowed to wash or style your hair for 48 hours, which includes tying it up, which was really hard for me as I have my hair up 99% of the time! For this 48 hours my hair stayed perfectly straight, not frizzy and looked very shiny. I went over the few front bits of my hair with my straighteners in the mornings, as they had gone a bit 'kinky' from sleeping on them, other than this I didn't have to straighten my hair, hooray! After the 48 hours, using the mango shampoo & conditioner (which smells absolutely amazing by the way! It smells like peach fromage frais - yum!) I washed my hair and blow dried it as normal, however I was confused as my hair was still frizzy.. Although I think that this is because of the hair dryer and it would have been a lot less frizzy if I had let it dry naturally. I straightened it as I usually would, it felt really soft and shiny! Over the next few days my hair stayed as straight as when I just straightened it! I was amazed at how shiny and frizz-free it was, my hair even bounced when it was in a pony tail, which is something that it never really did as it's too frizzy and goes frizzy soo quickly after straightening it. I think the idea of this 6 week blowout is to eliminate the frizz once you have straightened it, like an extra strong serum that blocks out frizz, especially that's caused by humidity, however I have quite curly hair so this could work differently on somebody with straight and not so frizzy hair. Usually, I have to straighten my hair for at least 20 minutes every morning as it goes really frizzy even over night but since using this treatment I have only had to straighten it after i've washed it and it stays shiny and straight until I wash it again, which saves me 20 minutes each morning - fabulous! Through any weather, it has stayed exactly the same: bouncy, frizz-free and shiny! I noticed it the most after walking to work, as usually when I get to work I find that my hair has exploded with frizz from the humidity, as it's quite hot at the moment (well for the UK anyway!) It has made my hair feel sooo soft and it looks a lot healthier and shiny, it's also great for my hair as I haven't got to kill it with my straighteners every morning. I applied the treatment over a week ago and it's exactly the same still as when I first applied it. I've only had to use a heat protecter and a tiny amount of serum since using the treatment as my hair simply doesn't need it, it's like a product that has everything in one! It retails for £14.99 which is an absolute steal for what it does, considering that when I had my brazilian blow dry it was well over £100.
Although I was confused at first as to what it actually did, I am really happy with the results and can't wait to carry on using the shampoo and conditioner to see how long it will last! I would 100% recommend it to anyone with frizzy hair, as it will save you a lot of straightening and also save you from going frizzy in the humidity, especially as the sun is starting to come out a lot more! I will definitely be repurchasing this for the Summer as I will then actually be able to wear my hair down without it being a frizzy mess! I have had lots of compliments on how shiny and healthy my hair looks, and also from how it smells! You really have to smell the shampoo & conditioner it is to die for...
Sorry if this is baffling on a bit, I just wanted to give quite an in depth review as many people will be confused on what this actually does (as was I, before I tried it). But I hope this has helped any of you who were wondering what it's like and whether it works! The answer is yes... My hair is now officially weather proof!
Have any of you tried this? What did you think about it?
